St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine, based in Grenada, West Indies, has announced a new three-year partnership with Legae Academy, a leading international secondary school in Gaborone, Botswana.
This landmark collaboration aims to streamline medical school access for aspiring Batswana students and nurture the next generation of healthcare professionals across Africa.
The agreement is part of SGU’s broader mission to address the global shortage of doctors, particularly on the African continent.
With 130 Botswana-trained medical graduates and 64 current students from Botswana already enrolled, SGU continues to expand its reach and impact through partnerships that promote academic excellence and healthcare advancement.
“This partnership with Legae Academy reaffirms SGU’s longstanding commitment to empowering future healthcare professionals in Botswana,” said Bradley Wade, Regional Director of Recruitment at SGU.
“Students from Legae who are admitted into SGU’s MD programs will benefit from partial scholarships for self-funded students, a guaranteed interview scheme, and access to SGU’s Global Medic Club — a rich online learning resource.”

Known for producing high-achieving students who consistently score above international private school averages, the Academy sees the SGU partnership as a pivotal step toward expanding global opportunities for its learners.
“We are excited about this partnership with St. George’s University,” said Legae Academy Principal Easo Oommen. “This collaboration is a significant step forward. It will inspire many of our students to pursue careers in medicine, ultimately benefiting our communities and contributing meaningfully to healthcare across the continent.”
Through the agreement, students at Legae Academy can access SGU’s Four-Year MD Program, as well as the 5-, 6-, and 7-Year MD tracks, with enhanced support and application guidance.
