The Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has emphasized on the desperate need for unified and cohesive peace in Sudan Amid the ongoing war that is nearly entering it’s third year according to Al jazeera.
Speaking through his viral statement released on his official X account,The IGAD Executive Secretary Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu’s cited that Sudanese humanitarian crisis has reached staggering levels and is characterized by broken dreams, lost lives and one of the most extensive displacement crises in the worldtoday.

Dr. Gebeyehu’s revealed the pain that the impact of the conflict on Sudanese themselves as he emphasized on the intense sorrow felt over each life lost and every family plunged into violence.
His genuine expression of condolence is a sharp reminder of the human cost within ongoing matters.
“It is time for coordinated process, one that puts the voices and needs of the Sudanese people above all else. To every life lost, every family torn apart, we extend our deepest condolences,” he said.
The statement resonates with feeling and fellowship, making plain that the Sudanese people’s yearning for peace must be the cardinal principle of all sides round the table.
The demand for a coordinated push towards peace is crucial. As Dr. Gebeyehu sees it, efforts for peace have been fragmented and set in opposition to each other.
Understanding everyone’s different needs and conflicting concerns must now cease to stand in the way of honoring the voice and desires of Sudanese.
This approach is vital if there is to be a sustainable path through conflict, ensuring that the peace process is inclusive and embraces those most affected within the war.
What’s more, Dr. Gebeyehu’s insistence on not turning away from the plight of the Sudanese people is his advocacy stance and an affirmation of action.
He stresses that the international community must stay involved, alive and on it in order to support peace efforts.
The statement is a call to action for unity among regional and international actors, rising above state interest and finding common cause with those people of Sudan.
As the executive secretary puts it, now what is needed for genuine coordination is that all parties work together to implement their and the Sudanese people’s aspirations.
Only through a ground-up (coordinated and inclusive) approach will lasting peace come to this country that’s suffered so much.
