The Sudanese Social Democratic Party has strongly condemned the ongoing systematic violations and racist targeting of the Kanabi communities in Al-Jazira and Khartoum states.
According to the party, these communities are being targeted based on their ethnicity and skin color by the Sudanese army and its affiliated militias, including the Sudan Shield Forces and the extremist Al-Baraa Islamic Brigades.
The party’s president, Abdellatife Abdulla Ismail, expressed concern over a recent decree issued by the Al-Jazira State government, granting a 72-hour deadline to demolish the homes of Kanabi residents and forcibly displace them.
Similar incidents have been reported in Khartoum State, where destruction and displacement occurred in Al-Khayrat village on May 27 and in Abu Karshola neighborhood on June 15.
The Sudanese Social Democratic Party warned the Al-Jazira State government against continuing these racist policies, which they believe amount to ethnic cleansing campaigns against the Kanabi people.
The party holds the de facto authorities in Port Sudan fully responsible for the ongoing abuse against marginalized communities.
The party also calls for urgent intervention from international, regional, and local human rights organizations to pressure the Sudanese government to halt forced displacement operations.
The party demands protection for the Kanabi communities and an end to racially motivated targeting based on ethnicity and skin color.
The party seeks accountability for those responsible for the ongoing human rights violations and crimes against the Kanabi people.
